Double Major Elite
Maclaren do not manufacture a Double Major Elite themselves, but it is made in small numbers by a specialist company.
Two single Major Elite pushchairs are dissassembled and reconfigured to make the double.
The seats share a single central frame/wheels.
Each single Major Elite would have had a maximum weight capacity of 50kg per seat, this is now shared between the two seats so 50kg for BOTH children. Although we usually find that children outgrow the leg length at around 35kg
There are some slight oddities with the double:
- Footrests cannot be located at the same height
- Sun Hoods cannot be fitted
- Lateral Supports can only be fitted to one seat
Individual Storm Covers can be added to each seat but they have be to offset slightly on the central bar.
The Major Elite is approved by the MHRA (Medicines & Health Regulatory Agency), the Double Major Elite is also MHRA approved. So you can be assured that although it isn't actually made by Maclaren the Double Major Elite is a professionally designed and manufactured piece of kit.
