OVERVIEW
The Maclaren Major Elite is designed specially for the older/larger child who is not able to walk or, more likely, can walk...but either not far enough or reliably in the direction which you want to go.
The Major Elite covers an age range from say 2 years to 8 years, although suitability is more about size rather than age.
Robustly made with an aluminium frame the Major Elite is sturdy but at around 8kg it is still reasonably lightweight. It is tested for a child up to 50kg BUT do not rely on this 'potential' capacity as most children would outgrow it dimensionally (especially in the leg length) before reaching that weight. We tend to find that most children of say 35kg at around eight years old will start to outgrow the leg length. It would also be difficult to push if fully loaded as the wheels do not have bearings.

The Major Elite has relatively small 7" wheels which are best suited to smooth urban surfaces, rougher surfaces - a cobbled street or park will prove a challenge especially for the older or heavier child. On the other hand the relatively small 'footprint' of the Major Elite makes it much more suitable than other pushchairs for use around town, inside shops or other places indoors, e.g. School.
The Major Elite comes with a 2 year Maclaren Warranty for the original owner.
Major Elite Sun Hood Charcoal
Large Sun Hood provides protection from direct overhead sunlight, it can help a child feel a little less 'exposed' in the pushchair.
UPF 50+ Sun Protection, although do still protect from reflected light from the sides.
The Sun Hood must be removed before the pushchair can be folded.
WARNING The Sun Hood should not be used in windy weather without the Rain Cover fitted. If wind gets under the Sun Hood it can be detached and flip up against the person behind the pushchair.
Major Elite Rain Cover
Quality PVC Rain Cover supplied with Protective Storage Pouch. Helps to keep your child dry and happy, can also be used (even when not raining,) to create a 'protective bubble' from cold weather. When not in use stores conveniently in the Basket.
Major Elite Shopping Basket Charcoal
Useful storage for some shopping, to carry extra clothing or perhaps a picnic for the park, but not really substantial enough for anything too large or heavy. e.g medical equipment. Maclaren have re-designed this basket to include some stiffener slats in the base. The Shopping Basket does not need to be removed before folding the pushchair (although may need to be emptied of it's contents).
Major Elite Padded Seat Liner Red
The Padded Seat Liner makes the seat more comfortable, helps protect from under seat cooling and is easily machine washable for the occasional accident.
Major Elite Padded Footmuff
A seated child who is not moving is not generating heat to keep themselves warm, the padded footmuff helps to protect a child's legs from the worst of the cold.
The Footmuff poppers securely to Major Elite frame so it won't slip off the seat.
An older child has longer feet as well as longer legs so if they already have the footplate in the lowest position then they will already have outgrown the Footmuff.
Supplied with a Waterproof Nylon Drawstring Storage Bag to keep your Major Elite Sun Hood in good condition, hang it up on a hook in a cupboard when you don't need it on the pushchair. Durable and generously sized so it isn't a struggle to use it.
